Naomi Osaka explains why she has a weak second serve
In an interview to Good Morning America, the world No. 1 Naomi Osaka recalled her Australian Open final win over Petra Kvitova. 'It felt really special, I think. For everyone who wins a Grand Slam, it feels like one of the happiest moments in your life', admitted Osaka.
She feels a different player and person now: "When I was younger, I put too much pressure on me. Now I focus on point by point and match by match, and that's working."
Osaka takes a lot of photos while travelling around the world and she posts it on her social media channels. "Tennis players, we travel a lot and we do not get to appreciate all the places, so taking pictures is one of my ways to sort of appreciating it."
Many experts, including the seven-time Grand Slam winner Mats Wilander, said that Osaka needs to improve her second serve, and the 21-year-old is aware of it. "I would have loved to hit a harder second serve, but I did not want to take the risk of double faulting", said Osaka.
She finally gave a suggestion to the younger players: "Everyone has their own path, so you just need to keep going, never give up and don't compare yourself to the people."
Asked how difficult was it to refocus after the disappointment of the second set, Osaka replied: 'Yeah, I mean, it didn't really take that long. I didn't have a choice on how long the break was. I don't know like I felt like I didn't want to have any regrets. I think if I didn't regroup after the second set, then I would have looked back on this match and probably cried or something, so...'
