Roger Federer is above Rafael Nadal, says Marcelo Rios
In an interview to Aire Libre, the former world No. 1 and 42-year-old Chilean Marcelo Rios commented on the next generation's potential and the older guys' dominance. Rios praised Roger Federer who will seek his Grand Slam title No. 21 at next week's Australian Open. 'I see players like (Alexander) Zverev and other young guys who will get the lead in any moment. (Rafael) Nadal is a monster, but he is not the same, Novak Djokovic is coming back, any moment Federer retires the younger guys will step ahead. I think they will make a lot of history, but I do not think they will get to Federer's level. No one like Federer will be there.'
Rios is not a very close tennis fan: 'I watch tennis less, more the important tournaments or Jarry or Garin.'
On Jarry, Rios concluded: '(His second half to the season) surprised me a lot. Now the beautiful and complicated part comes because you need to start playing ATP tournaments and Grand Slams, and now you start earning money. What Jarry did is very good. He has an unbelievable potential for how he plays. He moves very well being two meters tall and he has no technical lacks.'
