Roger Federer: 'It would be special to win Laver Cup at home in Geneva'

After two very successful editions in Prague and Chicago, the Laver Cup will settle in Geneva between September 20-22, featuring Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal just like two years ago in Prague when they shared the same side of the court for the first time in a career. Roger led Team Europe towards two titles so far and he is eager to do that again in seven months, coming to Geneva on Friday together with the captain Bjorn Borg to promote the event and start the official ticket sale at the Palais Eynard, Parc des Bastions.

“Being able to play the Laver Cup in my home country is a dream come true and I’m excited about joining our Team Europe captain Björn and seeing lots of fans in Geneva as part of the countdown on Friday,” Roger Federer said. “Geneva is a great sports city – I’ve played some memorable matches at the Palexpo and it would be very special to win the Laver Cup with Team Europe at home here in Switzerland.”

“It is a great pride for Geneva to host the Laver Cup. It is also an opportunity for the residents of our city to meet the planet’s best players and vibrate to the rhythm of their games,” said Sami Kanaan, Mayor of Geneva.
