ATP Dubai: Dominant Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury claim maiden team title
Fourth-seeded Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury have won the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships doubles title.
USA's Ram and Briton Salisbury defeated Japanese Ben McLachlan and Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff in the Dubai doubles final 7-6 (4) 6-3.
Ram and Salisbury were pressing McLachlan and Struff early on but they failed to convert two break points in the first game and three more break point in the third game respectively.
McLachlan and Struff saved one more break point in the 11th game as the first set eventually went into a tie-break.
McLachlan and Struff led 2-1 after the opening three points but then lost four points in a row.
Ram and Salisbury converted their first set point in the 11th point to claim a tight first set.
Ram and Salisbury finally got the first break of the match at the beginning of the second set when they broke to go 3-1 up.
Shortly after, Ram and Salisbury had a chance to go up by a double break but failed to convert any of their two break point in the sixth game.
Ram and Salisbury also failed to convert their first match point in the eighth game but routinely served out for the match in the following game.
Ram and Salisbury converted just 1-of-11 of their break point chances but didn't face a single break point opportunity in an hour and 22 minutes of action.
Ram and Salisbury claimed their first team title in style as they didn't drop a single set in four matches played this week in Dubai.
Earlier this season, Ram and Salisbury fell just short of winning it all at the Brisbane International as they got beaten in the final by Marcos Daniell and Wesley Koolhof.
