Flavia Pennetta on life as a mother. About Serena Williams...
In an interview to the Italian Magazine "Chi", the former world No. 6 Flavia Pennetta commented on the photoshoot with her husband Fabio Fognini for their new apparel endorsement Emporio Armani.
Pennetta said: 'In the past I refused sexy calendars and photoshoots. But this time there was Fabio and I told him: "Let's give a try". It was funny, even if for making this photoshoot I didn't eat for a month. He trained, but I gave up a little bit. But without stopping to be a woman, that's clear. That should never happen. When my son Federico was born in May 2017, my husband started looking at me as a wife and mother. A woman understands it straight forward. On one side it is good, on the other we still have to be a couple. You need to use fantasy so that he the desire never turns off. Now I am a happy woman and mother who wants another child, maybe a girl: let's say that it is working in progress. For the rest, I work as a tennis commentator."
Pennetta also revealed a conversation she had with fellow mum Serena Williams at last year's Miami Open: "She told me, If I could, I would be pregnant again straight away because it would be so nice that they grow up together. She is almost as old as Venus and so they grow togerher. She has the memory of growing up with a sister or a brother. She had a complicated birth and this is the reason why she cannot become mum anytime soon. Not because she is afraid of what her endorsements could tell her if she stops competing. Now she wants to come back, she has a goal, which means overtaking Margaret Court's 24 Grand Slam titles record, and I think she will achieve it."
