Toni Nadal: 'It's normal for fathers to put pressure on their sons'
In an interview to Cadena Ser, Toni Nadal commented on the work they are doing at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor. They would love to make as many guys as possible becoming professional players also to meet the expectations of parents but this cannot always happen. "It's normal that a father puts pressure so that his son does as good as possible, providing you do not cut the limit", reflected Toni. "I get mad when a coach gets upset about it. You have to balance it. Parents pay an amount of money and the kid needs to 100% commit to it. And it doesn't always happen."
Asked if he misses travelling on the road with his nephew, Toni replied: "Sometimes when I see Rafa being in Australia, it's clear. I enjoyed it. When I was in Monte Carlo I was having breakfast in front of the sea. I was lucky to travel over the world and know a lot of many important tournaments, which I had never imagined. Now that I am here, I keep being very good. I want to teach kids who want to make their best effort."
"We are on a good way. We have high-level players like Jaume Munar, who has a good future perspective, Casper Ruud. The results we got lately have been very good and we can help players become good. I am happy with the whole system."
"You have to make a calendar depending on each character. In tennis, you have to go around the world."
