In an interview to El Mundo, Rafael Nadal spoke about his keys to success. "One of the successes in my career is that I did not play just tennis and I did not miss many childhood things because of the sport. I travelled, I could play sports like golf and football, I appreciate being with my family and enjoying the off-court life as well. I like the cinema and I am a fan of the sea, fishing and living with friends, despite I travel a lot. Now I have a very complicated schedule, but in the future, I will be closer to the academy."

What happens with Mexican tennis? "Mexico needs a figure that can become a reference point, but in order to do it you have to make investments and promotion, facilities, a place where you can practice at the highest level and I hope this centre in Costa Mujeres helps towards this direction."

Nadal concluded speaking about the Spain-Catalunya controversy: "You have a lot of complicated topics like Catalunya and the elections, but the situation needs to be calmer, maybe not in the short term, but you need stability. I think that the way to solve the case of the Catalunyans is the co-living, I keep Catalunya in my heart, I spent a lot of important moments there and I do not imagine a Spain without Catalunya, so it's important to be inside the country. I do not see different things. Catalunya is in Spain and you will see from there."
