Jamie Loeb and JC Aragone receive Oracle US Tennis Awards
The third annual Oracle US Tennis Awards have been presented to Jamie Loeb and JC Aragone at Indian Wells Tennis Garden, with both players receiving a $100,000 grant to help develop their tennis careers. A six-member advisory council comprised of former tennis professionals and executives (Lindsay Davenport, Ilana Kloss, Peggy Michel, Dr. Timothy Russell, Martin Blackman, Todd Martin) selected the award winners and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association will administer the grants. The 24-year-old New York native Jamie Loeb was ranked in the top-140 in both singles and doubles, achieving decent pro career so far after spending two years at the University of North Carolina where she won 84 out of 93 singles matches, claiming 2015 NCAA Division I Tennis Championships crown.
Since 2012, Loeb has won seven ITF titles in singles and doubles and she almost qualified for the main draw at the Australian Open in January, losing to Karolina Muchova in the third round. The 23-year-old JC Aragone competed for the University of Virginia with great success, winning three NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships crowns and more than 100 matches overall. JC has clinched 25 Challenger wins and two Futures titles so far, entering the top-200 in doubles and top-250 in singles. The previous winners of this award were Danielle Collins and Mackenzie McDonald in 2017, and Francesca Di Lorenzo and Chris Eubanks last year, being able to excel their games thanks to those grants and achieve prominent careers, with Collins reaching the semi-final at the Australian Open.
“JC and Jamie are talented young players with bright futures,’’ said Oracle CEO Mark Hurd. “We created these awards to help young players with college experience as they transition into professional tennis. We’re very proud of the success of our previous award winners, and hope that these grants help Jamie and JC in their continued development.’’
