Stefanos Tsitsipas's mindset is amazing, says coach Patrick Mouratoglou

In an interview to ATP Tennis Radio, the tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou praised Stefanos Tsitsipas's mindset. The 20-year-old Greek player has been working at the Mouratoglou Academy for a couple of years and this year he reached his maiden Grand Slam semifinal at the Australian Open and cracked the top 10 rankings. "He sees the glass half full rather than half empty. He thinks of the things he wants to win, the things he wants to achieve. He is not a defensive player mentally, his father has a big influence on that and he taught him to go to the net and take the responsibility of the point. I discovered him on YouTube because I heard a guy who was good and I am always interested in. He was playing juniors, I saw him at the Orange Bowl playing just two points and I loved how he was handling the competition, he looked like a great player and it happened to be. Not expecting fothe r mistake and going for every shot, which you do not see that a lot with the younger players. He is definitely going for it. I look at how he competes, this sport is about competing and the guys who are the best competitors are the ones who progress more than anybody else and in the end, when it comes to the big matches in the Grand Slams the personality makes a difference. I do not look at the forehand", said Mouratoglou.

On Alexei Popyrin, the Frenchman added: "He is a very young player, he is one year younger than Stefanos, he raised a lot on the rankings. He beat Dominic Thiem in the second round and then lost to Lucas Pouille. He has a big forehand."
