Will Novak Djokovic correct his Miami mistakes at the next tournament?

"This kind of match I shouldn't have lost, so many opportunities and way too many wasted opportunities...this is what happens when you don't capitalize on time..." Novak Djokovic said at the press conference after his loss to Roberto Bautista Agut at Miami in the fourth round. It was evident that Djokovic was in his zone and steamrolled pass Bautista Agut in the opening set allowing him only one game. Djokovic won the first set confidently as he blasted an ace to win 6-1. But there was a turn-around in the second set where Bautista Agut wouldn't tolerate another fast lost set.

The second set the Spaniard was in command. He'd hit with determination and precision. He had the ability to move Djokovic around, something that he didn't do in the opening set to gain points as the Serbian was adding up on unforced errors. The deciding set though was the pressure when Djokovic could feel he was losing his grasp on the match, game by game. It was tied 2-all but Bautista broke him by acting more aggressive and dominated most of the plays. Djokovic's game had fizzled and he had lost his sting and unfortunately the match.

Many had asked if it was the rain delay or what was it that he couldn't keep up the intensity for the second set. "I lost the momentum, I lost the rhythm in the second set and...I gave him a little room to step in and he did..." the Serbian explained. The lack of aggression Djokovic admits cost him the match. The media had asked him about the clay court season soon approaching if he will be a bit more ingenious in playing there. He says that the hard courts are his forte but he will try to be more on point during clay court season. Djokovic was a bit disappointed with his bagging out at the round of 16. "...Two or three sluggish games and that's what happens", he gave reasoning for lost of the match to Bautista Agut. He had said of hopefully having more success than he did with the previous events. "I definitely have to play better than I have in these couple of tournaments.: It was at Indian Wells he only reached the second round and had to bow to an aggressive playing Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets. He go through only to the round of 16 in Miami. Novak Djokovic certainly was on point at the Australian Open where he won the title away from Rafael Nadal in three straight sets showing he had comeback power from the absence of playing when he'd had an elbow injury. He ascertained his point of view and taking his loss in stride saying about Miami that "...here I was still rusty, but hey that's life."
