Alexander Zverev: 'Federer, Djokovic, Nadal are contenders for every event'

In a press conference, Alexander Zverev commented on the Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray dominance. They won 55 Grand Slam titles combined and the first three are still at the top. "Big Four were winning basically every single title for the past 10 and 15 years so it was hard to break through, obviously they are still there, they are still contenders for every single tournament they play. It's gonna be interesting to see how the younger guys will do, all of them work hard, play well, sometimes it's a little bit about timing", said Zverev.

On the Next Generation, the 21-year-old added: "We all want to be the best, some of us think that we are already the best, but we all have a lot of hard work ahead of us, we all have great talent. I like where tennis is going, I like the development of the other young guys and it's gonna be interesting to see what it will be like in the future."

Zverev could play in Washington in August to retain his title there and win his third consecutive crown: "We basically don't have any day off in this Stretch. When you are winning, you have no days off. In 2017 I won Washington and Montreal titles and then in Cincinnati, I had no energy. In 2018 I won Munich and Madrid titles and I still managed to prepare myself for Rome and had a very good chance to win there as well making the finals. It's all a process, it's all about learning how to do it."
