Joao Domingues reflects on shock Alex de Minaur win at Estoril

World No. 214 Joao Domingues didn't feel he was playing his best tennis on Monday despite getting the biggest win of his career against 27th-ranked Alex de Minaur.

Portuguese qualifier Domingues stunned sixth-seeded de Minaur in the Estoril Open first round 6-2 2-6 6-2.

Domingues, 25, broke de Minaur twice in the first set to claim the opener before the Australian got two breaks in the second set to force a decider.

However, the Portuguese didn't panic after easily losing the second set as he broke de Minaur twice in the third set to claim a huge win.

"I didn't feel like I was playing the best match of my life. Playing conditions were really tricky, and of the sides of the court was specially defiant because of the wind, but we have to be able to play under any circumstances," Domingues said post-match, per the tournament's website.

Domingues, who is playing his first ATP event of the season, isn't lacking confidence in himself.

He will face next the winner of the match between Bernard Tomic and John Millman.

"You don't have to tell me that I can win the tournament. I believe in myself, regardless of anyone I'll play against, I always have a chance to win," Domingues claimed.
