Pablo Cuevas reflects on big win over Budapest top seed Marin Cilic

World No. 73 Pablo Cuevas didn't hide his happiness after edging out No. 1 seed Marin Cilic 5-7 7-6 (6) 7-6 (3) in the Budapest round-of-16.

Cuevas, 33, recovered from a break down and saved a set point on his serve in the 10th game but still lost the opener when Cilic got his second break of the match in the 12th game.

The second set went into a tie-break after Cuevas blew an early break and two break points in the ninth game.

The Croatian missed on a great chance to claim a straight-set win as Cuevas saved a match point in the tie-break before he converted his first set point to force a decider.

Both players struggled to hold on to their serve at the beginning of the third set as the decider started with four consecutive breaks.

Cilic saved two match points in the 10th game, two more in the 12th game and more in the tie-break before Cuevas realized his sixth match point to earn a huge win.

"To beat a player like Cilic is very important for me, so I'm very happy for this. It was a very tough match, but I have confidence and fought for every ball today," Cuevas said post-match, per Tennis TourTalk.

Cuevas plays next against rising Italian star Matteo Berrettini.
