Roger Federer recalls when Wimbledon sent him warning about shoes
In a recent interview, Roger Federer recalled when he wore white shoes with orange soles produced by Nike at 2013 Wimbledon. The rules say that a player's shoes have to be white coloured and the organizers were quick in warning the Swiss. "I wasn't sure I was gonna pass, I didn't, I was allowed to wear it one match, then not anymore. I paid the price - I lost in the second round the day after - but that was a bold and risky move. It's important to take chances and see if it works or not", said Federer.
Federer also commented on how John McEnroe and Andre Agassi changed tennis: "They were extreme. John from New York, his personality, I loved watching him play even though he was just a bit before my time and I was lucky enough to play through the Agassi and he is really the guy who pushed us toward the short shorts, long hair, and who cares about the results. He was unbelievable, he transcended tennis as well. Andre and John were really important within tennis and they were also really important people." Federer concluded: "I have had multiple closets over the course of my life for 20 years, so you can imagine all the shoes I have been to, travelling to China or Japan they were like, Okay, we want you to wear this one, then I can keep it and of course I hold on to it and I do not like to give away too many shoes and then I also archive some shoes, some very special ones that either I was part of designing or like you did for me or just shoes I like and I know I won't wear for the time being so I have tons of shoes."
