Spanish tennis will be okay after Rafael Nadal retirement - Mancisidor
In an interview with Diario Vasco, the tennis coach Alejo Mancisidor commented on how important Rafael Nadal is for tennis in general. "I hope Rafa continues for many more years because when he will not be there anymore the same thing that happened with Arancha Sanchez Vicario and Conchita Martinez will not happen, that it seemed that nobody would breakthrough. Players are coming up and now we have the Pablo Carreno Busta's example. It's amazing what he is doing", said Mancisidor, who feels confident about the status of Spanish tennis.
On his co-operation with Lara Arruabbarena, Mancisidor added: "I am very happy. She had been tired for six years and we had to make a lot of changes, which is not easy at all, and we are satisfied. We are very excited because she will soon improve."
On his co-operation with Muguruza, Mancisidor added: "When we split our ways Garbine was the world No. 6, which is good. Over the years she earned maturity. I was told that she was yet to make a step forward, but what lacked her was to be a more mature player. She was facing much older opponents and from her age, she was the best. If she keeps her mindset, she can be at the top. If there is a player who can stay at No. 1, that's her."
