Chris Kermode shares why ATP Finals will be held in Turin

In a conference call, the ATP Chief Executive and President Chris Kermode shared the reasons why Turin will host the ATP Finals from 2021 to 2025. Manchester, London, Tokyo and Singapore were among the other candidates. "It's an important day for ATP, Italy and Turin", said Kermode. "We are proud to bring this event in your country that can be considered the super bowl of tennis, something so big that cannot be explained in a few words. With the top eight players all in the same tournament that gives the champion's title out of champions. It was a tough decision, but we are happy to have found a proper city after London, that has been hosting us for 12 years. The ATP Tour features 62 tournaments, over the last years we reached the impressive amount of one billion fans around the world. We want to try, for the next ten years, to still grow opening a new chapter. They were saying that tennis would not work in England in winter, they were saying you could only give a shot at Wimbledon and grass-court tournaments. Instead, 250,000 people attended the tournament every year, making it the most important tennis indoor tournament ever."

"It's a big legacy, from 1970 Tokyo onwards, and even since the announcement came we were asked by many people why we picked Turin. Well, the answer is a very easy one. It's passion. The same one that the Italian Federation has been having for the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan. From that moment, I have been overwhelmed by the passion in your country, it's the same one that makes the Rome Open stand out. That's really on your NDA. Energy, passion, long term vision: I strongly believe all this will bring to a next level which was never ever achieved before in the world of tennis."
