Flavia Pennetta: 'Hopefully Fabio Fognini and I will be parents again'
In an interview to Corriere Della Sera, Flavia Pennetta commented on Fabio Fognini's quotes about their desire to become parents for the second time after welcoming a son named Federico in May 2017. "If God wants, hopefully, we will shortly have news. Federico is growing up and we feel ready. It's the right time", said Pennetta.
Were the sexist claims to the umpire in the 2017 US Open the lowest point? "For me, seeing it from outside, was the saddest moment because you saw a false image of Fabio. His mother, sister, me... He loves women and he respectes them. But during that time he was spending less time with Federico and he felt at fault, nervous. The one in New York stays as the worst thing. But it's the past and we never spoke about it again."
And after winning in Monte Carlo Fabio looked calmer too. "I was surprised myself as well. He was calm while celebrating, being aware in the interviews. He does not have anything to show to anybody."
Pennetta will play the French Open Legends draw with Francesca Schiavone next month. "I started training again. That was tremendous. I felt so tired."
What makes her the proudest? "The sense of the fairness of his win in Monte Carlo. Fabio plays tennis too well not to win such an important title, he has a lot of talent."
