Pablo Andujar: 'I see myself in what Rafael Nadal says'
Pablo Andujar lost to Matteo Berrettini in a four-set opening-round match at the French Open on Sunday. Interviewed by Punto de Break after his loss, Andujar said: "A few details were the key. In the third set, on 4-3, I had (the chance) to lead 5-3 and serve and if I took them, the match could have been different. The only thing I can do is to improve those details and keep trying. I am coming from a physical issue, which is something that happened quite often to me in my career."
He also said, "The positive is that in Lyon I was doing bad and today well, despite I had not played for almost a month. I was very willing to play in Barcelona, Madrid and Rome. I was seeing myself in a great time. Sometimes I see myself (agreeing) with what Rafael Nadal says because I played dealing with a lot of pains too but I won two Challengers in a row and I reached the Marrakech final, which means my level is still there," said Andujar, who will play a couple more Challengers on clay before going to London. "For what I went through in my career, at my age, playing Wimbledon is a gift. The last time I played there I reached the third round, so I have some nice memories."
Analyzing his title in Lyon, Benoit Paire added: "I think I played well already in Marrakech. I started the season a little bit bad with some injuries... so it was not easy at the beginning. But I feel much better now. I feel good on the court, I feel very confident. When you feel confident, you can win a lot of matches against good players. I expect a lot for Roland Garros now. [I want to] win a lot of matches. I don't know how many... if physically I feel 100 per cent, I hope I can go to the second week because for a Slam it would be my first time in Paris, so that's my goal and we will see if I could do it."
