Stan Wawrinka adds new partner to his team
Stan Wawrinka, World No. 28 and 24th seed of the French Open singles main draw, has recently announced his brand new partnership with the brand ROKiT.
“I am humbled by the fact I am joining forces with a brand like ROKiT. They have established themselves through an array of interesting solutions in the telecommunications space and partnerships with high-profile sports teams and athletes. I look forward to doing creative things together and promoting ROKiT even further through the world of tennis. You get one life: ROKiT.”
Posted on the Swiss’ social media, the message came along with an action picture of Wawrinka taken during the ongoing Roland Garros. On the image figures another of his sponsors, the brand Yonex.
By defeating Jozef Kovalik 6-1 6(3)-7 6-2 6-3 in the opening round of the French Grand Slam, the 34-years-old has earned himself the opportunity to face Chile’s rising star Christian Garin on Wednesday. The US Open champion will try to bypass the World No. 37 for a place in the round of 32, where he could face either Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov or Croatia’s Marin Cilic.
Wawrinka’s best result achieved in Roland Garros remains his title victory in 2015, year when he beat notably Roger Federer, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and Djokovic on his way to the summit. In 2016, he reached the semifinals to be eliminated by Andy Murray, and in 2017, he lost the final to actual World No. 2 and defending champion Rafael Nadal. In last year's edition, he was ousted in the round of 128 by Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
