Tim Mayotte Enters Fray for ATP Tour Board of Directors Position
Tennis - Former tennis star Tim Mayotte has put forward his candidature for the position on the ATP Tour Board of Directors. Mayotte made the announcement on Twitter where he says hopes to help the players and grow the game in a healthy way. Mayotte is the second former player to put forward his name after Brad Gilbert did a few days ago.

Justin Gimelstob is currently on the ATP Tour Board as the representative of the Americas region and he is due for re-election when the ATP meets during the Rome Masters. After his recent court case, there are several in the tennis fraternity who believe that Gimelstob should not be re-elected.
The 59-year-old Mayotte won 12 ATP singles and 1 ATP doubles title during his career and peaked at No. 7 in the world rankings. He retired from the tour in 1992 and was involved in coaching for the USTA post retirement.
His best performances included winning the Lipton International Players Championships (now known as the Miami Masters) in 1985, the Queen's Club Championships in 1986, the Paris Indoors in 987, and winning the men's singles Silver Medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. At the Slams, his best performances included a semi-final appearace at the 1982 Wimbledon Championships and the 1983 Australian Open.
