Halep welcomes grass season in Macarena style

Simona Halep sprinkled her weight-lifting session in Wimbledon’s gym with a dancing session on the rhythms of the famous Macarena song.

The current WTA number eight found a very interesting way to relax a bit with only a few days remaining until she starts her grass season at Eastbourne’s Nature Valley International tournament.

La Macarena was Los del Rio’s mid-nineties hit and it’s not by surprise as we can still see it being played at all kinds of parties.

Halep recently declared that her current target is Wimbledon, but she underlined that she won’t lose the other tournaments from her sight: "The main objective is Wimbledon. Every tournament is an objective for me and when I go to a tournament I want to win it."

The grass is not the most lucrative surface for the Romanian former number one as her greatest achievement dates back in 2013 when she got stopped in the semifinals by Eugenie Bouchard, a player whose game took a downward trend ever since. After that performance, Simona hasn’t managed to get past the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam.

Regarding her Eastbourne history, the Romanian missed last year’s edition due to inflammation of the Achilles tendon. Her only record at Nature Valley International is a quarterfinal against Wozniacki in 2017 when she lost after winning the first set 5/7, 6/4, 6/1.
