Mixed doubles exhibition match to kick off Hamburg
An exhibition match will take place this Sunday in Hamburg, the day before the main event kicks off at the tournament.
The participants will be world No. 5 Alexander Zverev, his brother Mischa Zverev, former world No. 4 Iva Majoli and former world No. 7 Barbara Schett -- who will play an exhibition match.
"To open the tournament next Sunday, we now offer a great mix of sports and entertainment. We are very glad that the Zverev brothers, Iva Majoli and Barbara Schett will make themselves available at short notice for this mixed doubles match. It fits perfectly that two Hamburg natives will play alongside two ladies who have won this tournament in the past,” tournament director Sandra Reichel said in a statement, per Tennis TourTalk.
Meanwhile, world No. 211 Mischa has received a wildcard into the singles event in Hamburg.
The former world No. 25 is set to make his fifth main draw appearance in Hamburg.
The 31-year-old has never made a deep run in Hamburg as his previous four appearance ended with three first round exits and one second round showing.
