Novak Djokovic: 'Like Roger Federer said, age is just a number'
Sunday was a long day for Novak Djokovic. The Serbian player finished his Wimbledon final at 7:10 PM, then he met the press and attended the Champions Dinner with Simona Halep and all the other winners. Speaking to the gathering, Djokovic commented on how it feels to equal Bjorn Borg's five titles in the All England Club.
“It’s a privilege and an honour to be mentioned alongside Björn Borg, one of the greats in this game, for myself, Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal and the players of his generation. Wimbledon is a special tournament in my eyes, in my dreams, and for many other players. I’m honoured to be in the same room as Rod Laver and Manuel Santana, everyone who has made history for this sport, made it possible for us to compete in such a wonderful sport, to be recognised as a successful athlete. I am 32 now, though I don’t really look at age. It’s just a number – like Roger said. I think I have a few more years left in my legs. And, if everything goes the right way, if I manage to balance things out in my private life – because I’m a tennis player, obviously, but firstly I’m a father and a husband – and as long as I have the support of the closest people in my life, I am able to thrive. If I get to compete, it will always be at the highest level and the intention is always to win Wimbledon", said Djokovic.
