Roger Federer was better than Novak Djokovic in Wimbledon final - Rasheed

Speaking on The Big Sports Breakfast, the tennis coach Roger Rasheed commented on Roger Federer's loss to Novak Djokovic. Rasheed believes the Swiss should have won the match. "He was the best player throughout the match. He won more points and statistically he was better. He did not play well in the tie-breaks, that's the reality."

Federer hit more aces, won more net points, first serve and second serve points, hit more winners and won more receiving points. He also won 14 more points overall than Djokovic (218 against 204), but he still lost.

Federer instead won the first set tie-break against Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard won only one point on serve in that tie-break. Why? "I know you guys think that we control everything. We don't", said the Swiss. "Some balls just fly in and some don't. Good things happen when you try to do the right thing. Bad things happen when you doubt yourself. In that breaker, I guess I was clear. This comes from a good game plan. It comes from having understood in the first six return games what do I have to do in the breaker to change that momentum. For me, things went a bit better. I served well on top of it. I don't know how to explain it. Sometimes it just happens. There's no bigger explanation."

Federer will play his next tournament in Cincinnati where he lost to Novak Djokovic in last year's final.
