Serena Williams: 'The day I stop fighting for equality, I'm in my grave'

In a press conference in Wimbledon, Serena Williams answered the criticism from WTA Founder Billie Jean King, who said the 37-year-old should stop fighting for equality and instead focus on tennis. The 23-time Grand Slam winner said: "The day I stop fighting for equality and for people that look like you and me will be the day I'm in my grave."

On the Duchess of Sussex Kate Middleton supporting Serena, Williams added: "Just having her in general as a friend is great. She's such a great friend and a great person as well. I just think that I just have to just keep going, you know, keep trying, keep working, maybe be able to play some tournaments uninjured, as I did with this one. Just keep moving forward."

Halep said: "I have to admit I believed more that I'm able to win another one. Once you win one you have the feeling you know how it is. You treat it a little bit easier, let's say. It's never easy, but you treat it a little bit easier. Yeah, I was motivated after I won the first one that there is another chance for one more."
