ATP Cincinnati - Thursday Schedule: Federer, Djokovic seek quarters
On Thursday in Cincinnati Roger Federer will face Andrey Rublev for the first time in his career. The Swiss player also faced Juan Ignacio Londero on Tuesday for the first time. It will be Diego Schwartzman and Richard Gasquet to open the schedule on Center Court at 11:00 AM, followed by Venus Williams and Donna Vekic at 1:00 PM. The night session will be headlined by Novak Djokovic, who plays against Pablo Carreno Busta for the third time. The Serb defeated the Spaniard both times in Monte Carlo, in 2014 and 2017, on clay. Pablo managed to win a set two years ago, although the Serb was dealing with elbow issues at the time. Elina Svitolina will then face Sofia Kenin. Venus spoke about why she decided to turn a Youtuber: "There were a series of events that led me there, and once I got there I quite like it. Actually, I have the other video on deck. I just have been busy and haven't made the edits yet. I enjoy it, actually. More than anything, I like to film things. That's more fun for me than, like, being on camera. The point of having a channel is to be on camera. Yeah. You guys write what you want and then I get to say what I want (winking)."
On Grandstand Ashleigh Barty, who defeated Maria Sharapova on Wednesday, will face Donna Vekic, followed by Daniil Medvedev versus Jan-Lennard Struff. Miomir Kecmanovic will play against Roberto Bautista Agut, while Lucas Pouille will try to beat Nick Kyrgios or Karen Khachanov.
