Caroline Wozniacki is keeping her ailment under control, says brother

Patrik Wozniacki commented on his sister Caroline dealing with rheumatoid arthritis. In an interview to Sport TV2, Patrik said: "Those tournaments are decisive, but I think she trained well. I was in Monte Carlo to see her a week ago and she seemed to be fit. She wants to train and she seems to be able to deal with rheumautoid artritis. There are definitely good and bad days but she keeps it under control, unlike she did 12 months ago."

"It's a very crucial moment for her because she is still going through the disease and injuries that have influenced her in the last year. It's a big question mark if she can keep fighting to find her best form," said the expert Henrik Jensen. "I do not know if it can mean a break after the season ends, but if she keeps struggling, competing against the best players will be tough and she will drop on the rankings more and more."

Wozniacki will open her run in Toronto against Yulia Putintseva. The Dane is ranked 18th in the world. She is living a happy time in her life as in June she got married to her longtime boyfriend David Lee, a former NBA star.

Wozniacki spoke about her evolution in tennis over the seasons: "If you ask me, compared to last year or compared to six years ago, if you ask me compared to six years ago, I think definitely I'm a better player. I think I have learned a lot. I think you get experience. You add to your game. Everyone kind of pushes each other, and when you're No. 1, you have to keep improving even with a faster pace, because you have a target on your back. But if you ask me compared to last year, I think, yeah, you try and improve, but I think the difference is much smaller and you'll have, you know, a month where you may play better and a month where you may play a little worse."
