Daniil Medvedev: 'Tsitsipas is No. 6 but I beat him four times'
Daniil Medvedev commented on his rivalry with Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Russian feels confident before every match he plays and even more against the Athens native. "In all the matches I want to win because it's money, points, popularity. It does not matter what the opponent is, you never go on the court and think: Oh, well, I can lose this match. For me, it's really good to face him despite we had close matches. He is sixth in the world but I lead the head to head meetings 4-0", said Medvedev.
The former world No. 1 Dinara Safina spoke about the different treatment female players get compared to men: "In some ways, I agree with Serena: we are women, we have the right to vote. People saying that a woman is stronger than a man are wrong. Carlos is a hard and tough umpire. He will not be friendly with you. He umpired many matches of mine and I was always respectful with him. When I tried discussing with him, I always lost, so I stopped. In the final there were emotions, tiredness and desire to win, but what can you do. Men and women have not the same rules. It was rumoured that women could play five-set matches. That's unreal. I still remember that at the WTA Finals we once played a five-set final. It was not easy, but it was just the final."
Through her Instagram account, Safina also shared an interesting thought on the pressure parents put on their children: "My face is exactly like this when parents tell me that their nine-year-old kid does not make an effort, does not do 150 jumps, does not train a lot. Parents, first of all, you have to go to the hospital and heal. Just calm down. You should not put pressure on your son when he trains. Make your kid be happy. Spread love and support, not criticism and discussions."
