Maria Sharapova to reportedly split with coach again
The Swedish player Rebecca Peterson has hired Thomas Hogstedt as a new coach for some weeks. Hogstedt and the Russian star Maria Sharapova may have split each other. "There is not a settled co-operation yet but I hope he can join me in the US Open", Peterson told GTG Journal. "After Wimbledon, I went to Mariestad (were Hogstedt lives) and to Barcelona. I worked with him for some weeks ahead of the hard-court season. It was a great week and it made me understand what it takes, how it works and think better about how to use my game in order to win."
Hogstedt started working with Sharapova at the end of 2010. They split each other several times and they came back working together last year. In July Sharapova trained in Italy with coach Riccardo Piatti. "Hogstedt is a very professional coach who worked with the best players both in WTA and ATP. He had not worked with a Swede person for 20 years so it was great for me that he wanted to help me", said Peterson.
Sharapova will be back to compete in Toronto this week. The Tournament Director Eugenie Lapierre said: "Over the last years we watched amazing tennis and many unforgettable clashes between the veterans of the Tour and the next generation. This year we will also have the chance to see many of our players at work. We are ready for an amazing week of tennis."
