Nick Kyrgios: 'I want to play with Stefanos Tsitsipas as often as possible'

Nick Kyrgios was pleased with his straight-set win over Yoshihito Nishioka in Washington. The Australian player, who prevailed 6-2 7-5, said: "I came out on fire. It’s good to see [Nishioka] back on the court and producing the level he can. He competes like a dog and he’s an unbelievable athlete. I’m going to play a lot of matches against him and I’m not really looking forward to it! I’ve got some people working with me on the mental side of things because I want to make improvements. I’m winning matches and there are some glimpses of that."

Kyrgios finally confirmed he will play doubles with Stefanos Tsitsipas in Cincinnati after competing together for the first time this week in Washington. "I wanted to play with him in Montreal but Stefanos has already a partner. I want to play with him as often as possible."

Kyrgios's next opponent is Norbert Gombos. Following his win over Benoit Paire, Gombos said: "I was so happy that I got another chance to play here. I know that I was playing really good in previous weeks and now I get a chance to play with the best players. After yesterday's win, I felt like I'm playing really well, so I can take a chance in advancing to other rounds. I was playing really good [against Kecmanovic]. Actually it was a close match, and I'm so happy that I won such a close match. I'm really happy to be in the quarter-finals, and I'm really enjoying this moment.”
