Playing field for Rafa Nadal Open published, Mischa Zverev to play
The Rafa Nadal Open's playing field has been announced. Mischa Zverev, who is going through a terrible season, will try to go far in the Challenger tournament that starts on August 27 at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor. Carlos Berlocq will seek his 20th Challenger title, his great list of successes started in 2005 Turin and he won the last title in 2018 Panama. Lukas Rosol, Sergiy Stakhovsky and Santiago Giraldo are among the players announced. The 34-year-old Czech conquered eight Challengers so far in his career, even though he conquered the latest one in 2014 Prague. The 33-year-old Ukrainian, who upset Roger Federer in 2013 Wimbledon second round, reached the Taipei Challenger final earlier this year while the Colombian won 10 titles. Yannick Maden, who lost to Nadal in the French Open first round this year, Peter Goyowyck and many more are committed. Nikola Kuhn, Carlos Alcaraz lead the Spanish hopes.
The Rafa Nadal Open Tournament Director said: "Manacor is looking forward to welcoming all those players who will enjoy themselves a lot. We have amazing facilities and we want both players and fans to enjoy a tennis party. I suggest all the people who are in Mallorca that week to download the tickets on the web (they are free) in order to get prepared for an amazing week in the Academy."
Daniil Medvedev felt flattered to equal Rafael Nadal's 41 match wins of the season in Cincinnati. "I like to hear a stat like this... I try to win every match I play," said Medvedev in an on-court interview.
