Tennis going through golden era thanks to Federer, Nadal, Djokovic - Toni
In a column for El Pais Rafael Nadal's uncle Toni praised Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic dominance.
"In every final, there is not just the trophy at stake but also the amount of Grand Slam titles. 20, 18 and 16. Some years ago we thought that reaching Federer was difficult, almost impossible. Now it's everything more in the air than ever. Those three are playing in a golden era that will be difficult to repeat. They are getting better and are transcending tennis. Their commitment, passion in the tough moments should be praised and a model to follow for the younger guys who try to get involved in tennis or who just look for mirrors to look at or attitudes to be inspired by. Us tennis fans are lucky of being able to enjoy this era, and I think all of us should appreciate the time we are living in."
Djokovic spoke about his family: "Being a father, there is nothing different. I love tennis and it means a lot to me and I am dedicated to it but being a husband and a father is unlike anything else in life and I need to have their support, to have the balance between private and professional life in order for me to still keep doing what I am. History is on the line, Grand Slams will be the priority at this stage of my career without a doubt and historic number one which is not that far away. I can achieve it but different things in life need to correspond to my desires and if that happens, I will still play at a high level."
