Andy Murray not aiming to face Roger Federer, Nadal and Djokovic yet
Andy Murray doesn't want to face the best players in the world right now. Speaking to Express, the British player said his goal is not to face one between Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. Murray said: “If I went out there against one of those three and lost 6-1, 6-1 and got killed, yeah, that is not necessarily productive. The mentality going into a match like that right now would not be ideal. Not that I ever felt playing them I was ever favourite, but I always felt I would have a chance. But right now, that would not be the case. Although, if I went and was actually competitive, did well and performed well, that can actually help, I don’t know…”
In a press conference Murray added: "I've always found that during my career, like in the middle of a match, to get enjoyment from it -- it's quite difficult to explain, but kind of, as you're playing the match, you're not, I don't know, I don't enjoy it. At the end obviously you enjoy the victory or you're disappointed at the loss. But like actually in the moment you're just trying to think about the next point and not concentrate on a good shot or a good movement. Probably, in the last couple of years, it's been harder for me to do that, because so much of my focus has been directed towards my hip and whether I felt like pain in a certain movement or when I was walking it was very -- I just found it hard to focus on the match. Whereas, tonight it was a little bit easier to do that."
