Marc Polmans: I probably peaked around the American swing

Joining fellow Australians in the Third Round of the ATP Challenger in Traralgon, Marc Polmans overcame Evan King in straight sets, defeating the American 6-3, 7-5.

Seeded 4th for the event, Polmans reviewed his performance post match, saying, “I got back from China two days ago and I’m pretty happy to be here, that’s for sure. It’s always good to come back home.”

The 22 year old further added, “I’m comfortable with the conditions here and I feel like I can keep getting better and better.”

Ranked just outside the Top-150 at No.154 on the ATP Charts, Polmans has had an impressive year so far, winning an ATP Challenger title (Zhangjiagang, China) in March and losing to John Millman in a final (Kaohsiung, Taiwan).

“I also wanted to qualify for an ATP Tour event and have a few top 100 wins, and I’ve done that,” he said. Polmans reached the second round in Washington after qualifying, losing to Frenchman Benoit Paire. “I probably peaked around the American swing, I thought was playing my best tennis then. I don’t think I’m playing quite as good as that at the moment but getting through today’s match, it’s coming back.”

“I’m still climbing closer to the top 100, so it’s all going in the right direction.”
