Boris Becker Cancels Million Dollar Debt with British Bank

German tennis legend Boris Becker has canceled a million-dollar debt with the British bank Arbuthnot Latham.

The six-time Grand Slam champion Becker had taken a loan from the British financial institution four years ago and entered into bankruptcy proceedings in England when he was unable to meet the debt  obligations.

According to the report, Becker contacted the Spanish lawyer Francisco Guillem thanks to the collaboration of businessman Juan José Rodríguez and since then Guillem has been working with Becker to cancel the debt incurred by the German.

Guillem has also been working with Becker in other legal cases since then - including helping the German with his property in Palma de Mallorca which had been targeted by squatters.

Through a statement, Becker has expressed his joy over the cancellation of the debt and the German is now confident that his bankruptcy situation in England will end shortly after the bank has renounced any additional claims. This will also allow Becker to focus on new professional projects.

Three of Becker's six Grand Slam titles came at Wimbledon, which he won as an unseeded player when he was just 17 years old in 1985 and then he went on to successfully defend his title in 1986. He also won two Masters Cup, an Olympic medal in 1992 and was a part of the German Davis Cup winning team on two occasions, besides winning several other ATP titles. He is currently also working with the German Tennis Federation as Head of Men's Tennis.
