Holger Rune Says He Wants to be in The Top 20 in Three Years Time

Tennis - Talented Danish junior Holger Rune Says he would like to follow in the footsteps of 19-year-old Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime and reach the Top 20 in three years time.

Rune, the current junior World No. 1, says he will focus on the senior circuit next season and not play the juniors anymore.

In the interview, Rune says, "I have a goal to be in the top 20 of the ranking in three years. Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime inspires me because he has done what I want to do and he likes to play close to the baseline just as I can. It will be an exciting phase where the opponents are stronger both physically and mentally. On the other hand, some of them may be a bit inferior to tennis, and they therefore stick to the simplicity that they know works."

Rune also says he is not afraid of losing more matches as he transitions from the juniors to the seniors and is confident he will get the results in time.

The 16-year-old Dane finished his junior tenins career by reaching the World No. 1 ranking in the ITF junior list and his wins included the French Open juniors tournament and the recently concluded ITF Junior Masters.

He has also been invited to be a training partner at the Nitto ATP Finals in London beginning November 10th where he will get a chance to be in the company of the top players and legends such as Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

The ATP Finals begin in London from November 10th and features the Top 8 players of the season on the ATP Tour.
