Rafael Nadal's season was almost perfect, says coach Carlos Moya

Rafael Nadal's coach Carlos Moya spoke about the Spanish player's season. Nadal dealt with a leg and knee injuries in the first quarter of the year, then won several big tournaments. "His season was 9,9/10. After going through all what happened earlier in the year, winning two Grand Slams and ending as a world No. 1 is something unbelievable. In 2008 he was No. 1, in 2019 he is so he totally evolved physically, mentally, game-wise, playing with new opponents. His ability to improve has been amazing. We won five Grand Slam titles together over the last three years (since they started working together). We have been having so many good moments and bad ones too. The best memory? The first tournament together at the Australian Open where he lost to Roger Federer. He was down mentally at the time after going through difficult times, I convinced him that he would be able to win Majors and be No. 1 again. That was something great. The worst memory was the March/April period."

Asked what they will do in the off-season, Roig replied: "We already know it. It's one month before the new season starts, there are little to improve on, we need to do it. We will not stop. We will enjoy holidays and then we get back to work."

Nadal will play Davis Cup this week, then will compete at the Mubadala World Championship from 19 to 21 December, he is committed to the ATP Cup from 3 to 12 January prior to the Australian Open.
