Thiem is the most consistent player after Federer, Djokovic, Nadal - Coach

In an interview to Kurier Dominic Thiem's coach Nicolas Massu was asked what the Austrian should do to reach the level of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. "The problem is that there are the best three players ever. Behind, there is Dominic for consistency. On the Tour there are just a few complete players like him. What does it lack? A Grand Slam title of course. He needs to work hard but also make sure that he stays relaxed and happy. He has a good age and knows that the next two years will be crucial", said the Chilean. "If he is happy, he plays his best tennis. That's the most important thing. You can train 20 hours a day, but if you are not happy you do not enjoy yourself on the court."

Asked how tennis came to his life, Massu said: "My grandfather was playing tennis for passion and he brought me with him when I was five years old. I immediately fell in love with the sport. Tennis has been my life for 35 years. Sport gave me everything."

Meanwhile Alexander Zverev complained about the too long season: "The calendar is too packed. We play for 11 months a year. So we have two weeks off before pre-season starts. It cannot work in the long term. That's why the best players have more breaks and skip some tournaments. We younger guys cannot do it yet. But later it will be like this for me. A nine-or even eight months a season would be perfect in order to recover and prepare."
