Tsitsipas wants to become world No. 1 and win Majors - Father
Stefanos Tsitsipas' father Apostolos reflected on the 21-year-old getting the best Greek athlete of the year award. "I think this year it was the best season for Stefanos because all the efforts we made over all these years paid off. This recognition shows that Stefanos brought something to Greek, people understand how much it takes to be there. In tennis, there are many matches. He wants to become world No. 1, win the biggest titles like the Grand Slams, also the Olympics are an enormous goal. Only Stefanos knows how and what's his limit."
On how he goes through his son's matches mentally, be added: "Parents always deal with pressure. Now for me, it's about being humble and keep fighting to help him to achieve what he wants. We should not see difficulties as a wall, as an obstacle to what we are trying to achieve. But we need to see it as a challenge in order to improve and if we do it, we will reach the highest step and we will manage to become the best as we can. It's all about how much love you have. You need some time to understand what it means to be a professional, so I am sure also in Greece they have been trying to make more kids perseve these dreams."
Stefanos said: "We go for much more, this is just the beginning. The title in London came because I improved my game throughout the year and I performed at my best. I played with my soul and passion. When my fans started cheering on my name towards the end of the third set, I felt a change and I became more optimistic. Marcos Baghdatis? I have been knowing him since I was a kid, I was watching him on YouTube and he is an inspiration for everyone. Hopefully, we manage to inspire as many kids as possible."
