Kim Clijsters reveals the reactions of her children to the news of her returning

On May 19th, 2019 Kim Clijsters attended the inauguration ceremony of the new roof on the All England Tennis Club's No.1 Court, in Wimbledon; she challenged Martina Navratilova and Jamie Murray paired with John McEnroe, and Venus Williams in singles.

In September 2019, she announced that he will resume his tennis career starting from the 2020 season. The return has materialized with his participation, thanks to a wild card, in the Dubai tournament, scheduled for February 17, 2020. In the first round she faced former world number 1 Garbiñe Muguruza, back from the final reached at the Australian Open, being defeated in two sets. It was Clijsters' first match since the 2012 US Open where she lost to Laura Robson in the second round.

"To know that the work we have put in, yeah, I feel like we're going in the right direction," said an optimistic Clijsters, after the match. "We're not where we want to be yet, but we're going in the right direction. That's really important."

During the press conference after her loss, Kim revealed the mixed reactions of her children to the news of her returning to professional tennis: “Jada was like Mom, do it. If you feel like doing it, just do it. Jack was like, Mom, I hope you lose your first match, the you can come home quicker.

The youngest is too young to really understand, but the support is there. Jada can understand. She plays basketball. She comes down to the gym with me. We do exercises together. It makes me think of how it used to be when I was younger. My dad was rehabbing his knee for soccer. It’s funny these moments that you can relate to.”
