Rafael Nadal: 'It's incredible to share epic moments with Roger Federer, Djokovic'
World no. 2 and the 19-time Major champion Rafael Nadal has had a busy schedule so far in 2020, competing in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Kuwait and Cape Town before traveling home to Mallorca. The Spaniard was the finalist at the inaugural ATP Cup, losing tight Australian Open quarter-final clash to Dominic Thiem in four sets and embracing two exhibition encounters against David Ferrer in Kuwait and Roger Federer in Cape Town, with the record-breaking attendance of almost 52,000! Speaking for National in Kuwait on the opening of his Rafa Nadal Academy, Rafa mentioned Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and their GOAT race, with three Majors separating three giants after the Australian Open where Novak lifted the 17th trophy of the highest level.
Rafa admitted he enjoys to be a part of it, reminding they have all achieved many things never seen on the tennis court before, trying to improve his game every day and take the positive notes from both wins and loses. The Spaniard will seek the first ATP title of the season in Acapulco in two weeks before another gathering with Federer and Djokovic at Indian Wells, with the world's leading players competing for the first Masters 1000 crown of the season.
"You can't be frustrated all the time because the neighbor has a bigger house than you or a better garden. That's not the way that I see the life," Nadal said. "The quest for most Major titles is exciting; it's incredible to be part of this historical moment of tennis. There are many things we are achieving that have never happened in the past. I'm enjoying this process and being part of it; for me, it's such a privilege and an honor. And, I'm just trying to be ready to keep going. I don't consider that I had to sacrifice many things to become a tennis player because I have always enjoyed this process. You are in a permanent state of learning; you have to be open with both eyes and mind to see what's going on around you and take the positive signs, remember the things you like and forget about the other things you don't."
