Roger Federer to spend time with family before he returns to action

World No. 3 Roger Federer has revealed that he wants to spend some time with his family before he returns to competitive action at the end of the month in Dubai.

Federer, a record 20-time Grand Slam champion, has played only one tournament so far in 2020 as he decided not to play events leading up to the Australian Open.

After a semifinal showing at Melbourne Park, the 38-year-old traveled to Cape Town last week, where he defeated his old rival Rafael Nadal in a charity match.

After Dubai, the former world No. 1 is expected to travel to the United States and play at the opening two Masters 1000 events of the season in Indian Wells and Miami.

"Soon we will have a longer phase without a trip again,” Federer said, per Tennis Shot.

“I am constantly discussing with Mirka how we can find the easiest solution for the children, and mostly that’s the best for my tennis.

"For some years now we have been able to bring in a little more stability.

“We try to stay in one place with the family as long as possible.

“That’s why I skipped the ATP Cup [in Australia] – so we could stay in Dubai longer."
