Sania Mirza Shares Weight loss Journey With Fans Online
Recently, former World No. 4 Jelena Dokic shared the story behind her weight loss and stunning transformation. Now, India's former World No. 1 doubles star Sania Mirza has captured her weightloss journey from 89 kgs (~196 pounds) to 63 kgs (~139 pounds) via a post on her Instagram account. Mirza gave birth to her first son, Izhaan, in October 2018 and was off the tennis circuit for two years.
Mirza, who came back to the tennis circuit in January, posted, "89 kilos vs 63. we all have goals.. everyday goals and long term goals .. take pride in each one of those .. it took me 4 months to achieve this goal of mine, to get back to being healthy and fit after having a baby .. feels like such a long way.to come back and regain fitness and being able to compete at the highest level again .. Follow your dreams. No matter how many ppl tell you , you can't cause God knows how many of those we have around us. If I can then anyone can."
In her first tournament back, Mirza won the doubles event in Hobart in January with Ukraine's Nadiia Kichenok, beating the Chinese duo Peng Shuai and Zhang Shuai 6-4, 6-4 in the final. However, she did have a calf muscle injury in the final which cut short her campaign at the Australian Open in Melbourne. Mirza pulled out of the mixed doubles event prior to the tournament and was forced to retire mid-way into her women's doubles first-round match due to the same injury.
