Stefanos Tsitsipas: Mikael Ymer has different game style than most players

No. 2 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas admitted to now knowing what to expect in his opener at the Open 13 Provence but he was happy that he managed to safely cruise into Marseille quarterfinal.

Tsitsipas, who had a first round bye in Marseille, kicked off his campaign at the tournament on Wednesday with a comfortable straight-set win over rising Swedish star Mikael Ymer 6-1 6-3.

After a breakthrough season on the Tour in 2019, the 21-year-old Swede is aiming to continue his improvement and rise this year.

"We played a lot in juniors. He has a different game style than most players and very solid from the baseline. I didn’t know what to expect out there. I’m really happy I stayed aggressive and didn’t get stuck in his rhythm," Tsitsipas said of world No. 75 Ymer, per Alex Theodoridis of Tennisportalen.

Tsitsipas, a five-time ATP champion, broke Ymer twice in each set and faced no breaks points en route to claiming the win in two sets.

The 21-year-old Greek plays next against Vasek Pospisil, who beat eighth-seeded Hubert Hurkacz to progress into the last- eight in Marseille.
