Rafael Nadal on Roger Federer: "We’re having a great story together"

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have always had an excellent relationship even off the tennis court. The two legends of the modern era played a charity exhibition in Cape Town last month in front of almost 52,000 spectators.

They have played each other 40 times, with Nadal leading the head to head 24–16. Their most recent encounter was in the semifinal of the 2019 Wimbledon Championships where Federer defeated Nadal in four sets.

Federer with 20 total major titles, and Nadal with 19, are first and second on the men's all-time list for the most majors titles, and hold numerous other records between them. Together they have won 11 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments, from the 2005 French Open to the 2007 US Open, as well as 6 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments on two occasions; from the 2008 French Open to the 2009 Wimbledon Championships and from the 2017 Australian Open to the 2018 French Open.

“We’re having a great story together. We have had long careers. Facing each other in the most important tournaments for such a very, very long time. Creating positive things for charity, playing in special events like we did in Cape Town in South Africa like we did a few weeks again. It’s a rivalry, of course, but it’s also a friendship" - said Nadal in a recent interview. By winning Roland Garros, the Majorcan would equal Federer to 20 Grand Slam titles. Things look to be going southwards for the fans of Roger Federer.
