Maria Sharapova has a blast on her birthday, beating social distancing boredom

Maria Sharapova still managed to enjoy her birthday on Sunday, even though the coronavirus pandemic had triggered emergency measures all around the world, including the United States. The 33 years old former world number one rode across the Pacific Ocean, enjoyed good food, watched the magic of ocean waves and sang along some RH Chilli Peppers tracks.

“Birthdays are still the best! Last night, we took a sunset road trip along PCH (Pacific Coast Highway), picked up lobster brioche rolls (and uni spaghetti!) from Broad Street Oyster Co drive through, made our way to a friend’s beach house (whom I didn’t even get to hug or speak to), made a wish looking at the waves, drove back singing alongside RH Chilli Peppers, and ate scraps of the honey cake my mom and I baked (because I wasn’t allowed eat the actual cake until today!)”, wrote Sharapova on Instagram.

By sharing her birthday experience, Sharapova set an example, showing her fans that it’s possible to have fun while social distancing as well. And, besides, she got to indulge herself in quite a few kinds of cakes. The first sweet bite was taken even before her birthday came.

“This little piece of cake goodness arrived at our doorstep this morning (happy early birthday to me) and didn’t make it past noon. Originally known as a German tree cake, the Japanese got some skin in the game and crafted several versions of their own. It’s one of my favorite morning coffee indulgences,” Sharapova wrote on Instagram.

In exchange for sharing the way she celebrated her 33rd birthday, the Russian tennis player received many nice wishes from her followers.
