Rafael Nadal: 'They are better than most of the people'

In the global quarantine period caused by the coronavirus, many athletes are using the social media channel to communicate with colleagues and fans. Former World number 1 Rafael Nadal took the opportunity to discuss some important topics with his colleagues (such as Andy Murray and Roger Federer).

During a 'LIVE session' on his social account, the Spaniard assured that he is in touch with the kids staying at the Rafa Nadal Academy. “I just told them that in some way they are a little bit better than most of the people because they are inside the Academy and they can share all these tough moments with friends because they are 80 friends there with coaches and psychologists" - the 19 time Grand Slam champion said.

“So even if the situation is tough because they cannot do their normal life, they cannot go to school every single day, they have to follow the school online. Moreover, they cannot practice tennis as usual but they can share these moments with a lot of friends. That’s something that makes things a little bit less difficult for them,” he added.

Nadal stands alone in the Open Era as the player with the most clay court titles (59), and holds an all-time record of 12 French Opens, 11 Monte-Carlo Masters and 11 Barcelona titles. He also stands alone with the longest single surface win streak in matches (clay courts, 81) and in sets (clay courts, 50) in the history of the Open Era. Due to these achievements, many have called Nadal "The King of Clay", and he is widely regarded as the greatest clay-court player in history. His evolution into an all-court champion has established him as one of the best players of all time.
