Freddie Flintoff on Andy Murray: He could be a stand-up comedian

Andy Murray is a world class Grand Slam winning tennis champion. The 33 year old Murray is back on the tennis courts and will play the upcoming Western & Southern Open and US Open in New York. Though it is not sure when Murray will hang up his rackets - probably depending on his fitness levels in the coming months - there could be another career opportunity awaiting him in the future, according to English television and radio presenter and former international cricketer Freddie Flintoff.

Murray will be a guest on the League of Their Own show this season. The show, which is in its 15th season, sees two celebrity teams compete against each other to test their sporting knowledge  over three rounds. 

League of Their Own star Freddie Flintoff has now said that he was very impressed with Murray's comic skills on the show and that Murray could be a stand-up comedian.

According to the Daily Record, Flintoff says, "Honestly, I don't think it's an exaggeration to say you have never seen Andy Murray as he is on this show. Absolutely crazy. I could not believe it - he could be a stand-up."

Besides winning three Grand Slams, Andy Murray is a two-time Olympic champion, Davis Cup champion and winner of the 2016 ATP World Tour Finals.

When Murray defeated Novak Djokovic in the 2012 US Open final, he became the first British player since 1977, and the first British man since 1936, to win a Grand Slam singles tournament. In 2013, Murray also beat Djokovic in the Wimbledon final to become the first British winner of the men's singles title since Fred Perry in 1936.

Andy Murray is also the men's singles 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold medallist, making him the only tennis player, male or female, to have won two Olympic singles titles. He has not played on the tennis circuit this year due to an injury sustained at the end of last season. He also underwent a second hip surgery last year. Murray and his brother Jamie Murray left London for New York a few days ago to compete in the Western & Southern Open and the US Open. The Western & Southern Open begins on August 20th while the US Open begins on August 31st. The US Open will be the first Grand Slam event on the tennis calendar since the Australian Open in January.
