Simona Halep won the 21st title of her extraordinary career at the WTA in Prague, the second tournament of the season after the resumption of competition, almost five months after the hiatus caused by the global pandemic.

Halep needed a good performance and two sets to beat Elise Mertens for 6-2 7-5 and win her 8th title on clay-courts. Recall that both players are on the US Open entry list of the Western and Southern Open.
