'Roger Federer double faults, but he doesn't get booed', says former No. 1
Novak Djokovic has been disqualified from the US Open, but this is not the only punishment that the American tournament has inflicted on the number one in the world. The expert tennis player has lost control of the game and his "annoyance" gesture will cost him dearly, a situation that he will surely not easily forget and that he will remember for the rest of his career. Disqualification in a Grand Slam tournament is something that marks you and that is remembered, let alone if we are talking about the number one tennis player in the world and ruler of this "absurd" 2020. Before the stop Novak Djokovic was in great shape and on his return to competitions he was not almost nothing has changed with the dominant Serbian in Cincinnati and in this flash of the tournament. Speaking with Ubitennis, former World number 1 Boris Becker recently spoke about the lack of love among fans for Novak Djokovic. Djokovic has been in the news all week for his disqualification from the ongoing US Open.
Becker on Novak DjokovicBoris Becker meanwhile said that like every other human, even Djokovic doesn't enjoy being at the receiving end of criticism. "He's a people person, he does a lot of charity work in Serbia through his foundation," Boris Becker said. "And yet people only talk about him when he breaks the rules. Novak Djokovic is a champion, he always wants to win, but sometimes he makes mistakes too. In men's tennis, fans are divided between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. And then here comes Djokovic who crashes the party – this is why he gets so much criticism. Nobody is perfect. Roger double faults, Rafa double faults, they don't get booed," Becker replied. Against the *20th seed Carreno Busta, Djokovic was doing what he does best in the first set: play efficient tennis without over-exerting himself and waiting to pounce on mistakes from his opponent. At 4-5, on the Spaniard’s serve, it seemed as if that moment had arrived. Djokovic had three set points and Carreno Busta was on the brink of losing the first set without having actually played all that badly. The set would have been over but for an incredible challenge. Down 0-40, Carreno Busta hit a forehand that was called out, but Hawkeye showed it was a hair’s breadth inside the baseline.
